Re: bumps in or bumps out?

In AD V8 #83, Mike G. asks;

. The manifold-to-head gaskets have an embossed ring in
the center. Should this embossed ring be positioned so that the bump is in
towards the head, or out towards the manifold? Does it matter?

Yes, it does matter. But don't look at the bumps. You will notice that the big
hole in the center is not round but oval. The gasket also has one straight
edge on the outside. Install the gaskets so that the oval is vertical AND the
straight edge is on the bottom. Otherwise the exhaust flow will be partially
restricted.
