Here's a link to a photo I took of an engine stand in use at Alfa of Tacoma
earlier this year.

Not a great shot, but it does illustrate the bolt-to-the-engine-mounts
philosophy.  Having the whole device controlled by an Alfa gear-shift knob
is a nice touch!
