Tramp and shimmy (notadance)

There are two types of wheel imbalance. Static imbalance involves a wheel
heavier at one point on the rim and induces the familiar up and down
vibration (tramp). Far more common these days is dynamic imbalance which is
imbalance from one side of the rim to the other. This induces that now
familiar shimmy.

A wheel can be in static balance and still be dynamically unbalanced.

For speed related wheel vibrations always suspect wheel balance first. A
non technical check is to swap a front wheel to the rear, one side at a
time. If the shimmy goes away, the wheel/tire is the culprit.
