I'm not convinced that an 'upgrade' to wheels or other suspension components
is 'necessary' for a fun time on the track.

The stock suspension is up to the task. Stiffer components will make for
less roll, but I wouldn't hold off taking my GTV to the track simply because
the suspension was stock.

Wrt bushings, poly ones will be a little stiffer, and will last a lot
longer, but again, they're not a necessity. You certainly don't want
deteriorated stock bushings, however.

Wrt wheels, I think it's hard to beat the light weight of the original mag
wheels. If you're looking for FTD, then perhaps wider wheels and rubber is
worth doing. If you're just looking to have some fun on the track, then a
decent set of rubber on the original mag wheels will serve you just fine.

The older I get, the more I subscribe to the Herzman/Grinch approach to
Alfas - there's nothing wrong with skinny tires, and in fact the ride
characteristic has a certain quality to it that some might find preferable
to the "stuff as much rubber under the fender as you possibly can" approach.

My .02,

bs
