low-tech cylinder liner holder tool

Instead of buying a custom-made tool for holding the liners in a 4-cyl
engine, I use a thick large-area washer (big enough to overlap the liner
edge) slipped down the head stud, clamped by a suitable-length piece of
suitable-diameter steel pipe (1/2" ID maybe?), tightened by a head nut.  You
need two, one between 1 and 2, and one between 3 and 4.  The pipe and
washers cost a dollar or two at the hardware store.
