Re: where's the DIPSTICK!!! (164)

Hi Group:

The original poster of the question mentioned "gearbox", as opposed to "transmission", so I'm guessing the car has a manual, not an automatic transmission. I don't own a 164, but I've never seen a manual transmission with a dipstick. Anyone? Usually you've got to open the filler plug to check or fill the oil.

Dean

I have a Alfa Romeo 164, recently bought. The gearbox seems to be hard to
use, so I wanted to check the oil level of the gearbox. However, as soon as
I opened up the hood, follow all the direction of both manual I ran into the
problem of inability to find the dipstick of the gearbox. Can someone
PLEASE help me. Or give me a direction on where it is or how I can check
the oil level, or perhaps fix this problem I have.

I don't know if the '91 to '93 model is any different than the '94-'95 that
I have.

The only sure-fire way to find it is to remove the front left wheel and look
straight in with a flashlight.
