RE: More Italian tune-up questions

Colin, according to the Factory Manual (CarDisc) Fuel Injection pp
20-22, the water temperature should be at least 170 degrees F before
road testing the car for mixture. This procedure calls the technician
to drive the car hard for a few miles with high revs and low gears to
burn off any deposits. To me, this is the closest the factory comes to
the Italian Tune-up. By the way, has warmed up to 190 for years.

There are no sensors in the dif.

Subject: More Italian tune-up questions

Here's my question. How do you know the OIL is warmed up--and in the
rear end? Do you
guys have sensors my car doesn't have? Sorry, but mine
gives me a reading for water temperature only--I
assume that means the stuff in the radiator. I always
wait until the water temp. reading is up to its usual
high of 190 degrees (where it sits very happily even
when its over 100 degrees outside), but how do I know
about the temperature of anything else? I have been
assuming that when the car is up to this normal temp.
it's OK to give her a run. Enlighten me, please.

(By the way, thanks to the guy in Santa Rosa with the
red spider--lost your mail. Please mail me again.
Might be fun to talk.)
