In a previous digest Straty Argyrakis tells us of his tale of
the cracked head in his 320i.
The same thing happened to me!
Apparently the heads on E21's are notorious for developing cracks
and fissures that worsen over time (told this by several local
mechanics). I don't know much about repair, etc...but i am amazed at
how such minute cracks can cause such major problems...but as you
mentioned, when the engine heats up...the fissures must get MUCH
worse!
On the upside....the car runs MUCH better with the new head....:-)
