Why is the M Coupe faster than the M3?

We all know that the M Coupe is a great car for the track. Not only is
it stiffer and smaller than any other BMWs, but it's also lighter than
the M3 (46 lbs). The question is, why is it more than half a second
faster (5.1 vs 5.7) than the US spec. M3?
