I have not seen any postings on this so I am posting this message.
I just took my car in oil service. While it was there, the dealership
replaced the crank sensor and accompanying harness. This is a
recall. BMWNA is replacing the crank sensor and harness with parts made by
a different manufacturer (my service writer did not know who the new OEM is).
