RE: bmw-digest V9 #1254

Manuel,
I do not know to name it exactly but I will try to explain. In my opinion
you almost certainly suffer from a worn linkage between anti-roll bar and
front strut. This linkage is a metal bar with on both sides a ball-joint.
Though you can not feel any play in it (because of the weight of the car) it
still can be there. On a bumpy surface it sounds like metallic ticking but
you won't hear it on larger bumps. It is a 5 min. DIY job to replace one
and the price here in the Netherlands is the equivalent of 30$(US). So
before messing with the struts I would first try to replace this linkage
which are known to last only about 100-150k (kilometers that is).
Hope this helped to cheer you up.
