Mark,

With an MSD ignition you do *not* need the ballast resistor nor the 
condenser on the points.  The MSD unit controls the amount of signal 
current available at the points.  It is very small and will not cause 
pitting or arcing of the points.  Mechanical wear is the only thing 
you're dealing with.  Typically used this way the points can easily last 
50,000 miles.  You will need to adjust as the cam follower wears though.
