The SCCA has many opprotunities for people interested in getting involved in Road Racing. You can participate as a driver or a specility worker, or even a spectator.
Driving requires having access to a car legal for competition in SCCA Club Racing. With several hunderd cars classified, in classes from unmodified Neon's to high powerd rockets like Toyota Atlantics (the stepping stone to Indy Lights) you can find a class to fit your budget and skills.
Specialty workers are the back bone of the racing program. At every race we need voulenteers man flag stations, handle timing and scoring, register workers and drivers, inspect cars for compliance, and just about every other job. In club racing everyone is working for the fun of it.
The Ladder System. Many drivers and workers have no ambition outside of Club Racing, but others want to move into the professional ranks. Both drivers and workers for major pro series are first trained by the SCCA. Wheter you want to drive or wave the yellow flag as a professional, the SCCA is the first rung on the ladder.
Spectating. Many SCCA Club Races are spectator events. For a nominal fee (usually $5 - $10 per person) you can get a pit pass and spectator pass. You can meet the drivers, see and smell the cars, and truly feel the rumble.
